How did the young earth separate into layers?

In ifirst few million years,
the Earth was a very hot,
and (mixture of very thing like elements or soil , stones etc )
semiliquid mass that after very long time the semilquide
separated into many layers according to the density of each layer, a process similar to what happens when oil floats on water. Most, though not all, of the heavy elements sank to the center while the lighter ones rose to the top. The separation produced a layered structure that still exists today
