This is taken from a short story named A Horse and Two Goats. It is the story of a small town called Kritam in Tamil Nadu, where an old man named Muni lived along with his wife and his two goats.
Everyday Muni would take his goats to the fields near the highway and he himself would sit under the Horse statue that was made there. Muni does not have any special attachment to the statue but it pains him to see some of the young village boys or lads to damage the things near the statue.
They would sometimes cut the tree trunks found near the statue with knives and at other times they would try to topple off the milestones and also wrote lewd comments on the walls of the statue.
They used to play with the horse as a toy and used to scratch it and being innocent were pardoned by everyone.
