How did totaram father realize that schooling was not bad thing

At first Totaram's father did not find it useful to send Totaram to school. But after Totaram saved his father from being cheated by the money-lender, he finally understood that sending Totaram to school was useful. So he said "Perhaps school is not such a bad thing after all".
