Hi friend,
Although the value of g is actually 9.8, we must have rounded it.
It means that for every second an object is in free fall, it falls 9.8 metres downwards more each second.
Example, an object is dropped from 40m. After first second it is at 30.2, and after the second second it is at 9.8m above ground.
