Answer:This question is taken from the story The Hundred Dresses- II of the book First Flight which is written by the story writer El Bosr Ester. The story reveals why Wanda was not coming to the school.

Wanda was bullied for her name so she shifted to a big city where no one would judge her. She wrote back a letter to Maddie and Peggy and gifted them one dress each as she has hundred of dresses there. This made Maddie and Peggy feel that Wanda likes them.

Explanation:

During Christmas time, the teacher, Miss Mason, receives a letter from Wanda. In that, she enquires how everyone in Room 13 is and also says that although her new school is nice, she misses them all. She sends two drawings of dresses and asks the teacher to give the drawing with the 'blue dress' to Maddie and the 'green one' to Peggy.

On having a close look, Maddie and Peggy realize that Wanda has drawn their faces on the respective drawings. They both are so happy that Wanda liked them after all to draw their images.

They were mortified with the way they behaved towards Wanda and were happy that despite their ill behavior, Wanda did not take it to heart and still liked them. This is how Wanda won the hearts of her classmates at the end.
