Grassland soil tends to be deep and fertile because of which they are highly productive for agricultural activities. Due to this characteristic of being highly fertile and high agricultural productivity, grasslands were taken over by farmers and were converted into commercial farms. Due to progress of technology coupled with high productivity, commercial farming converted these grass lands into breadbasket of America.
