Just today I read this poem by the phenomenal Nikita Gill. Totally recommend this book:

The poem is titled “The Stepmother's Tale".

And after finishing it I just…stopped. I sat there and just sort of reflected on it. It occurred to me that maybe the stepmother actually had a reason for being mean to Cinderella.

I always saw her as just an antagonist who was jealous of Cinderella's beauty and grace.

This poem/short story made me realize that the society we live in, the experiences we have really do make or break us. Not everyone gets a happily ever after.
