Diabetes is related to pancrease because pancrease plays an important role in sugar metabolism. It produces enzymes and harmones eg- insulin which regulates metabolism. If pancrease will not function properly, difference in blood glucose levels can cause diabetes.

pancreas in human body release insulin hormone, which help our body to digest the sugar intake by any means.
basically diabetes caused by slow sugar metabolic rate.
In diabetes type-I pancreas do not produce insulin hormone, thus body does not digest sugar intake, thus higher blood sugar level.
In diabetes type-II pancreas produce insulin but it is inactive in body, thus do not play any role for sugar digestion, causes higher blood sugar level.
