It is one of d easiest ways to make magnets. Iron, when rubbed with a magnet d domains inside it change their direction suddenly and act like a magnet. However such a magnetic character remains for a very short period of time and therefore this method of making magnets is of no use other than for fun. The best way to make magnets temporarily is to pass current in a conductor. Such a magnet is called as electro magnet.
