Animals living in hot and humid areas try to keep themselves cool by various adaptations that aids in air circulation around their bodies and helps to dissipate heat.

• Camels which are seen in hot deserts possess a thin layer of fur underneath their bellies which helps them to lose heat, while a thicker layer is present across their humps that shade them.

• Owls, nighthawks and poorwills keep their mouths open while flying so water is evaporated from the mouth.

• Vultures urinate on their legs so it cools them down as it is evaporated. Certain birds fly high in the air to escape the heat and feel the cooler air flow.
