how do ants and birds can find their way to home

They have some special type of sensory organ through some chemical and physical interactions in general. By which they can detect their way. Specially in ant as like the honey bee they have the common process while in case of bird due to the presence of light sensitive retina, some chemical reaction takes place through which they detect their way.
