Artefacts have some carbon in them (Carbon is present in everything around us). So basically, archeologist find the ratio of C-14 and C-12 and find the carbon consumption in it which tells us how old it actually is (Approximately). By knowing how old the artefacts are, we come to the mentality, thinking power and about future planing of the people at that era. Many artefacts depict some characteristics of that era like few are made from stones, sand or metals. In this way we study our progression towards what we are now.
