With sexually reproducing species, the survivors reproduce. The sexually reproducing species use their reproductive organs to reproduce. Asexually reproducing organisms involves only one parent.
In asexual organisms mutation can take place and if a mutated gene in a surviving organism is an adavantage to that organism then it can become a sizable portion of the population. The population of such species may or may not survive in an environment that is totally different from the parent species.
