How do butterflies take in food?

Hello.

Butterflies cannot chew or bite food. They can feed on anything that is soluble in water.
They drink liquids in the form of nectar, sap, juices from fruits and certain minerals. They have a structure called probosics that is responsible for this particular attribute.
