by phagocytosis which is the process in which the flexibility of the cell membrane allows it to take food and various substances from its external environment. eg. amoeba acquires it's food through this process..

THe cell takes the solid food by the the virtue of flexibility of the cell membrane which is known as endocytosis.....If the cell is eating then it is known as Phagocytosis...and if it is drinking it is known as potocytosis.....Its best example is is amoeba which obtains its food by endocytosis.
