a) Tuberculosis:

Causative agent:

Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a rod shaped bacterium causes tuberculosis.

Prevention:

i) Keeping oneself healthy and avoiding unsanitary conditions, over crowding and poor ventilation.

ii) The patient should cover his/her mouth and nose while coughing and sneezing.

iii) Immunization with BCG vaccine is an effective measure to prevent this disease.

b) Athlete's foot:

Causative agent:

Three different genera of fungi namely, Epidermophyton,Microsporum and Trichophyton causes Athlete's foot.

Prevention:

i) Keep feet clean,dry and cool.

ii) Avoid wearing closed shoes and socks made from fabric.

iii) Avoid using swimming pools,public showers and foot baths.

c) Cholera:

Causative agent:

The bacterium called Vibrio cholerae causes Cholera.

Prevention:

i) Drink and use safe water.

ii) Wash your hands often with soap and safe water.

iii) Cook food well,keep it covered, eat it hot and peel fruits and vegetables.
