Given that,

(a). From rarer to denser medium

(b). From denser to rarer medium

We know that,

The value of refractive index is greater for denser medium.

We need to find the behavior of lens

(a). From rarer to denser medium

(b). From denser to rarer medium

Using law of refraction,

According to law of refraction, incident ray , refracted ray and normal line are lies in one plane at surface.

If the refractive index of the medium is greater than the refractive index of the material of lens then the convex lens behave as a concave lens and concave lens behave as a convex lens.

Hence, This is required answer.
