Drip irrigation is one of the modern medium of irrigation. In drip irrigation, water falls drop by drop near the roots of soil.

Since water falls drop by drop, soil is able to absorb the water completely and prevents water logging. Water logging can result in soil erosion , subsequently leading to decrease in fertility of soil. Thus, by preventing water logging, drip irrigation retains soil fertility.
