How do echoes in a normal room affect the quality of the sounds that we hear?

An echo is heard when sound is reflected from a hard surface such as a cliff or tall brick wall. Echo can be heard if the minimum distance between the source of the sound and the obstacle is nearly 17.2m. so, in a normal room echoes are not heard. So there is no effect of echoes on the quality of that we hear.
