Mechanism of Enzyme Action:
During reaction, substrate passes through an intermediate transition state. Transition state is a high energy state.
The difference in energy of substrate and that of transition state is called activation energy.
Enzymes increase rate of reaction many fold by decreasing activation energy. This makes transformation of substrate to product easy.
