Protection From Weeds :

◆The unwanted Plants that grow along with the crops are called Weeds.

◆Their removal is known as Weeding.

◆It is necessary to remove weeds as they use up nutrients which are meant for crop. They also compete for water and light and thus affect production of crop.

Methods Of weeding :

\implies Manual removal : Weeds can be removed by uprooting unwanted plants with help of Khurpi. It should done carefully so that main crops do not get damaged.

\implies Tilling before sowing : Ploughing the field, before sowing the seeds,uproot weeds. Weeds then dry and get mixed with soil.

\implies Weedicides : These are chemical which kill weeds but do not harm crops. These are sprayed on fields. The farmers should take care of themselves while spraying weedicide as it can adversely affect their health.
