The oxygen is taken in by our body as we breathe.

The food is digested and energy is released.

This energy and oxygen is transported throughout the with the help of blood. The blood contains red blood cells (RBCs) which has red pigment known as haemoglobin which combines with oxygen to form oxyhaemoglobin. As these (RBCs) move in blood vessels they give out oxygen to the cells of the body and take in carbon dioxide from the cells.
