how do forests play an important role in maintaining the water cycle

The trees in the forest transpire during the day(Give out water from leaves),this adds to cloud formation.Moreover,the vegetation prevents erosion and water logging.Hence,water is absorbed into the ground and then again through transpiration back into the air.
