Genes carry the traits of parents to childrens and generation to generation.

Genes contains DNA molecules in it, which are the acts as a information source for building proteins. When this DNA is transferred from parent to the offsprings, then the proteins are made according to the blueprint stored in DNA. And this proteins only make the same body structures and traits as that of parents. In this way genes control traits.
