Genes are present as units in a DNA called as chromosomes now for a gene there are two chromosomes hence the male parent will give 2 chromosomes and the female parent will give 2 chromosomes the germ cell chooses 1 chromosome from male parent and 1 chromosome from a female parent.

Answer:

when germ cells interbreed with each other they both carry half no. of chromosomes on them as we know that there are 46 chromosome on which genes are present as both interbreed they carry half of chromosomes which means 23 that means half of genes when they interbreed they become full set of chromosomes as well as genes.
