How do glucose converted to pyruvate in glycolysis?

The net reaction in the transformation of glucose into pyruvate is: Thus, two molecules of ATP are generated in theconversion of glucose into two molecules of pyruvate.

we know that glucose is a six carbon molecule,so during the process of glycolysis which takes place in cytoplasm,glucose breaks down into three carbon molecule which we call as pyruvate.
