When we use harmful chemicals like pesticides, insecticides ,etc., to kill the pests . These chemicals happen to enter in the food chain through producers say phytoplanktons , phytoplanktons are eaten up by the insect larave or small insects which are eaten up by small fishes . the small fishes are eaten up by big fishes or birds . The harmful non- biodegradable chemicals like DDT get concentrated from one tropic level to tje next . The concentration of such harmful chemicals is maximum in the top levels.
