As water flow downtream erosion takes place on the floor and in the banks of the river, this I due to water force. The materials are pushed along the river leading to more erosion increasing the depth and width of the river .When the river banks becomes wide the velocity of water reduces ,this leads to deposition of haevy materials this reduces the depth of the river hence leading to formation of features such as fan .
