The number written below argon gives the number of protons.Always number of electrons and protons are equal in an atom.The number written above argon is the mass number which is a sum of neutron and proton.So to get neutron no subtract the no given below from mass number.

i)Electron = 18

Protons =18

neuton =40 - 18= 22

ii) valence electrons =8

valency = 0

iii) (2,8,8)

iv) number of proton = atomic number = 18

mass number = 40
