Step-by-step explanation:

Given (^∇^)o:

JKLM is a kite, where

  • JK = LK
  • JM = LM
  • JL = 16 cm
  • LM = 17 cm
  • KM = 21 cm
  • KM ⊥ JL

What, to do (o o?) :

Find, NM = ? [ length(NM) ]

Solution (‐^▽^‐):

Since, JKLM is a kite where, JK = LK & JM = LM

So, in △JKN & △LKN, we observe

  • JK = KL (Given)
  • KN = KN (both triangles sharing common side)
  • ∠KNJ = ∠KNL = 90° (since, KM ⊥JL, i.e given)

Therefore, we can say △JKN & △LKN are congruent to each other, &

thus we can say,

  • JN = NL (CPCT)

As, we have found, JN = NL we can say 2JN = JL

That implies, JN = 8 cm

Applying Pythagoras theorem, we get

JN² + NM² = JM²

(Since, we were given JM = LM)

Therefore, we get

     JN² + NM² = LM²

⇒  (8 cm)² + (NM)² = (21 cm)²

⇒  64 cm² + NM² = 441 cm²

⇒  NM² = 377 cm²

⇒  NM = √377 cm

Here you, get an irrational number, which in addition cannot, be simplified further,

Hope, my response is gonna help you!! ❤️
