first find the area of the larger rectangle

35*26= 910

then area of two triangles

1/2*5*24

which is 60 for one traingle

and 120 for both

then area of two trapezoid

h is 11 a is 14

for finding b let's use Pythagoras theorem of the triangle

x² is equal to 5²+ 12²

x² is 169

and x is 13

substitute in the formula

a=a+b/2*h

13+14/2*11

which is 148.5

two trapezoid is 297

final area is 910-297-120

which is 493 sq units
