For any vector , ai+bj magnitude is given by √a²+b²and direction is given by tan∅=b/a

Also the above statement , holds for vector in any xy plane.

Therefore,

Magnitude of 3i-4j is given by √3²+4² = 5

Direction is given by tan∅ = -4/3 = -53° ( The vector lies in fourth quadrant )
