Answer:

In a graph, the x-axis is always used to find the domain of a given function while the y-axis is used for calculating the range of the same function.

According to the graph, the dark dot represents a point which is a part of the closed interval in a range and a hollow dot represents a point which is not a part of the closed interval.

So consider the first domain from -5 to -1, the range is given by the values in y-axis from the least to the highest values.

The least value in the y-axis is -1 and the highest value is 5. Now since the value of 5 has a hollow dot, it is represented as open interval. In terms of equation it is given as:

For D ∈ [-1, -5], R = [ -1, 5)

For the second domain from -1 to 3, the range is given from -1 to 5. But since 5 has a dark dot, it is a part of the closed interval.

For D ∈ [-1, 3], R = [ -1, 5]

Range for the given graph is [-1 , 5]

Domain

The domain of a relation or a function is the set of all possible values for an input in that relation/function.

Range

The range of a relation or function is the set of all possible values that can be the result of a relation or function.

From the graph Value of x are from -4 to 2  where -4 is not solid hence not included so domain is

(-4 , 2]

From the graph Least Value of y is -1  and maximum value is 5 (as one of 5 is included in the solution ) hence  Range is

[-1 , 5]

Range for the given graph is [-1 , 5]
