Well if you are having difficulty in splitting it then you may use the formula to find the roots, that is x = (-b±√D)/2a where D=(b²-4ac) and you'll be able to find the roots.

x^2 + 20x - 16x - 320 = 0
x ( x + 20 ) - 16 ( x + 20 ) = 0
( x + 20) ( x - 16) = 0
Therefore
x = -20 or x = 16
x ( x + 20 ) - 16 ( x + 20 ) = 0
( x + 20) ( x - 16) = 0
Therefore
x = -20 or x = 16
