Alagu and Jumman were good friends. When Alagu was panch in the village panchayat, there was a complaint against Jumman regarding caretaking of his aunt. Alagu interrogated Jumman a lot and finally gave a judgement against Jumman, favouring and upholding true justice. That was to the dismay of his friend.
Jumman became village panch later. A complaint was filed by Alagu against Sahu and his wife, regarding payment of money for Alagu's bullock. When it came for judgement, Jumman did thorough interrogation and found that Alagu was justified. So he gave judgement in favour of Alagu.
Then the village was impressed by the true judgement, as people thought that Jumman may take revenge for the earlier judgement of Alagu against him. Thus both maintained their dignity and honesty in their roles as judges. Both also realized that being a panch they are beyond friendship and relations.
