How do leguminious plants help to replenish nitrogen

The root of the leguminious plants contain nitrogen fixing bacteria such as rhizobium this bacteria used to convert nitrogen to nitrate so that plant can absorb the nitrate and use them.Hence leguminious plants help to replenishing the nitrogen.
