Leguminous plants fix atmospheric nitrogen in soil as nitrogen compounds. So soil becomes fertile. Moreover nitrogen is the macronutrient which is very essential for plants

Leguminous plants contain rhizobium bacteria in their nodule .the bacteria takes atmospheric nitrogen and convert it into nitrogen compound so, the nitrogen compound fix into soil and the soil becomes fertile.
