How do mendel's experiment show that traits are inherited independently?
zeeshan452:
mendel observed that in f1 generation all pea plants are tall.means 100% tall plant In f1 generation take two pea plant then mendel observed 75% plant are taĺl and 25% plant are dwarf

Hey There!
Mendel followed the inheritance of 7 traits in pea plants i.e Pisum sativum. He chose traits that had 2 forms:
• Pea shape (round or wrinkled)
• Pea colour (yellow or green)
• Flower colour (purple or white)
• Flower position (terminal or axial)
• Plant height (tall or short)
• Pod shape (inflated or constricted)
• Pod colour (yellow or green)
Mendel began with pure-breeding pea plants because they always produced progeny with the same characteristics as the parent plant. Mendel cross-bred these pea plants and recorded the traits of their progeny over several generations.

Mendel conducted a dihybrid cross to study that traits are inherited independently. He he considered two traits at a time: these were:- seed colour & seed shape in which Yellow colour(YY) and round shape (RR)is dominant over green colour (yy) and wrinkled shape(rr).
Mendel observed that the F2 progeny of dihybrid cross had a 9:3:3:1 as phenotypic ratio and produced nine plants with round, yellow seeds, three plants with round, green seeds, three plants with wrinkled, yellow seeds and one plant with wrinkled, green seeds. In this he found that round yellow and green wrinkled are parental combinations whereas round green and yellow wrinkled are new combinations.
From the above experiment he concluded that dihybrid cross between two plants having round yellow (RRYY) and wrinkled green seeds (rryy), four types of gametes(RY, Ry, rY, ry) are produced. Each of the alleles segregate independent of each other, each having a frequency of 25% of the total gametes produced.
