mendel selected homozygotic or pure breeds of pisum sativum a tall one and a short one . when he crossed  a pure line tall plant and a pureline dwarf plant

the f1 generation had onlt tall plants

when he selfed the f1 generation he was able to find tat dwarf plants came out inspite of both the parents being tall

tats when he found plants can exhibit both the traits
