Mendel conducted cross between garden peas to find out the dominant and recessive trait..for example he conducted a cross between tall and short plants and found out that the tall genes were dominant in the progeny ie...most of the offsprings were tall and similarly conducted experiments considering various other factors such as colour of flower,seed shape,seed colour etc..
