Whenever metal carbonates or metal hydrogen bicarbonate reacts with acids, they liberate an salt, water and carbon dioxide.For example------------

Reaction of Carbonates-----
1----   MgCO3 + 2HCl------------------------------MgCl2 + H2O + CO2 

Reaction of Bicarbonates-----

2---- 2NaHCO3 + 2HCl ----------------------------2NaCL + 2H2O + 2CO2
