Bases are oxides or hydroxide of metals.

When a base reacts with a highly reactive metal, the metal displaces the positive in of the base to form another base.

Eg- Potassium + Calcium hydroxide --> Potassium hydroxide + Calcium

If a base is made to react with a less reactive metal, NO REACTION TAKES PLACE.
