How do mother elephant take care of their calf? (Few sentences for grade 3)

Kritika786: The other female elephants in a herd -- the calf's aunts -- aid its mother, providing protection and caring for thecalf. Sadly, should a calf be orphaned before it's two years old, even its auntscan't do enough to keep it alive.

A newborn calf of an elephant is helped by its mother to get on its feet and also by other females.

The elephant calves depend on their mother’s milk for almost 3-4 years. However, they can be weaned off at the age of 2 years.

The mother teaches the calves how and which vegetation to eat.

The calves are known to move around holding the mother’s tail while the other female elephants surround them to protect them from intruders or any danger.
