How do non biodegradable substances affect the environment?

1.As we all know, non biodegradable substances donot break down into small pieces and donot mix into the soil.therefore,if they (such as plastic bags) are thrown on soil,they donot break down and pollute soil.
2.Non biodegradable material such as plastic bags or polythene are mostly thrown on soil.Sometimes cattle eat them and get choked to death causing environmental disturbance.
