Social norms includes group-shared behavior standards. These norms are centered on "social values". Standards are societal laws that specify the proper and appropriate behavior in the society or in a group to be verified by individuals. They decide how people will treat themselves in different circumstances. Norms give cohesion to society. They influence attitude of individuals to understanding and unity.

Explanation:

  • Apart from rules, we can hardly think about a human race. The word of Hobbes "Solitary, poor, disgusting, brutal and shorter" would be used by a group without norms. In order to remain, the human being must live within a social system that is normatively controlled.
  • The regulatory structure offers society a stability that does not permit social life. Groups who do not establish a "normative order" and have a "normative control" over their members do not thrive due to lack of internal cooperation.
  • Social cohesion is the collection of characteristics that maintain a group working as a unit. It really depends on who you are wondering what constitutes group unity.
  • For example, psychologists look at the features and similarities of individuals within the group. Social psychologists consider cohesion as a feature that integrates to impact the group's actions. Sociologists prefer to interpret unity as a systemic problem to assess how the interlocking sections of the collective work.
