*Novels were a representation of the lives of common people.
*People could often relate to these characters.
*In England, women writers like Jane Austen, George Eliot, Brontè sisters, etc. Wrote about the lives of women and the patriarchal society. Common people could easily relate to this.
*In India, women like Rashsundari Debi wrote books like Amar Jiban.
*Also, as the working hours reduced to 8 hours per day in England, workers began reading and writing novels related to their lives.
*In India, factory workers like Kashibaba began writing booka like Bade aur Chhote ka sawal which reflected upon their lives.
*Also, publishers began to publish cheaper editions of books, like penny chapbooks in England and Biliotheque Bleue in France so that these were easily available to the poor.
In this way, common people found a reflection of their everyday lives in books and books, therefore, became an integral part of the li es of the common people.
