ocean water and currents affects the climate because it takes far more energy to change the temperature of water than land or air water warms up and cools off much more slowly than either..... currents that originate near the equator are warm currents that flow from the poles are cold
ocean currents act much like a conveyer belt transporting warm water and precipitation from the equator toward the poles and cold water from the poles back to the tropics thus currents regulate global climate helping to counteract the even distribution of solar radiation reaching earth surface
