Oil spills contaminate the area in which they happen. This results in the death of many animals, plants and microorganisms living there. Plants suck this oil thinking it to be water and die. Animals may by mistakenly consume this oil and die. Oil spills affect and degrade our environment greatly. Fortunately scientists have developed microbes who consume the oil in oil spills very quickly to clean the environment around.
