Food is the material from which organisms through respiration obtain the energy required to sustain life and carry out all the other defining functions of living things. ... Autotrophic organisms make their own food by a process called photosynthesis.

Hello,
Organisms obtain their nutrition from the food they eat.
The process of nutrition differs from animal to animal but becomes complex in higher organisms.

Plants obtain their nutrition from the process of photosynthesis. In this they use water, sunlight, and carbondioxide.

Unicellular organism like Amoeba obtains its nutrition with the help of endocytosis and exocytosis.

Multicellulars like humans have very complex nutritional process.
This process includes engulfing of food, action by enzymes, absorption, assimilation and at last excretion.
In humans when the food is burnt in the cell during respiration it produces energy(30.2 kJ of energy)
Thus, nutrition is an important factor for the development of body and its proper functioning.

Hope this will be helping you ✌️
