Chromosomes exist as pairs in organisms. The parent organisms , both , pass half the no. of chromosomes to the offspring , this ensures that the no. of chromosomes are constant. ex- In humans , there exist 23 pair of chromosomes , both the parents create copies and pass the half to the offspring.
